How long will the examination take?
Approximate times are listed below and vary depending on the patient's specific needs:
MRI: 30 - 60 minutes.
CT: 15 - 30 minutes. Some contrast examinations require drinking contrast 1 hour prior to the study; therefore, you may be in the facility for 1 to 1 ½ hours dependent upon your case. You may contact our office to make arrangements to pick up the oral contrast to drink prior to your appointment by calling our scheduling department at (509) 248-9592.
Ultrasound: 30 - 60 minutes. Vascular Lab studies are approximately 60 minutes.
PET/CT: 2 hours
Plain X-ray: These studies are performed on a "walk-in" basis. During busy times, the wait can be up to 60 minutes. Actual examination time is usually less than 10 minutes, dependent upon the type and number of x-rays your physician has ordered.
Who interprets the results and how and when do I get them?
A radiologist specially trained to supervise and interpret radiology examinations, will interpret the images and send a written report to your referring physician who will share the results with you.
In most cases, your physician will receive a copy of the report in 2-3 business days.
You may obtain a copy of your own records by either visiting our office and sign an Authorization to Release Protected Health Information or click here for the form which you may mail or fax to our office. There may be a charge associated with this request.
Do I need to pick up x-ray films to take to my doctor's appointment?
Memorial's Valley Imaging produces all images in electronic format. All images are provided on CD which can be delivered to your referring physician by request.
Please Note: Many physicians do not require original images. If your physician has requested you obtain the x-rays for your appointment, please contact our Image Management staff at (509) 248-7380, option 2, to make arrangements for this service. We request you contact us at least 2 days in advance of your appointment to allow time to process your request.
In the case you do need to pick-up a CD, our Image Management department is located across the alley from the main Valley Imaging building at 315 Holton Avenue.
